PPA questions BJP's silence on Mere Vichaar

Singh disclosed it during a consultative meeting with East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamio Tatak and the departmental engineers in the DC's office chamber on Friday.
Earlier, Singh, along with Secretary Rakesh Kumar, inspected the 132/33kv switchyard at Dura Korong on Friday after inspecting the HT line from Aalo to Pasighat.
Secretary Kumar briefed on Electricity Supply Code (ESC), Standard of Performance (SoP) and Consumer Grievances and Redressal Forum (CG&RF), and stressed for effective implementation of the same with the help of the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner Tatak said that illegal tapping of power from overhead electricity line is one of the main causes of power shortage, and said that stringent action must be taken against power theft.
Tatak urged the SERC for lower tariff for rural consumers so that poor families in interior villages can light up their houses.
SE (Power) Duyu Tacho urged the Commission to make the process for house electricity connection easier as majority of the villagers do not possess all the required documents. (DIPRO)

The cultural night event started on Friday, and the enthusiastic participation of children in the celebration was amazing, with children as young as five years old taking part in the cultural competition. True to its motto, the organizing committee has banned all kinds of business activities like food stalls, etc.
"We have been celebrating like this for the past several years. We have not altered anything and have kept the celebration in its original form. Our aim is to let the young generation know how their ancestors celebrated this festival," shared the committee chairman.
The organizing committee has also issued strict instructions to all those participating in the cultural competition to only perform to Nyishi songs. On Friday, when a team taking part in the group dance competition performed to a song of some other language, the organizers immediately stopped them and advised the young participants to perform only to Nyishi songs.
"There are other occasions to dance to Bollywood, Hollywood and other songs, but at least on Nyokum we would like our people to sing and perform in Nyishi. Our culture and tradition is dying a slow death. Therefore, occasions like Nyokum should be used as a movement to preserve our dying Nyishi art and culture," shared Tadar Tarish, President of Arunachal Law Students Union and a native of Pachin.
As the rest of the Arunachal celebrates Nyokum in a pompous way, the people of Tegdo Pachin are showing the way to celebrate Nyokum in its truest form.
Ogs seek justice for late Katem Dai, candlelight march held

PASIGHAT, Feb 25: Hundreds of people from all walks of life joined the peaceful candlelight march carried out from Daying Ering Memorial Government Higher Secondary School to Gandhi Chowk, main market, here in the home town of late Katem Dai on Friday.
Late Katem Dai reportedly died following an altercation with his college mate at Guwahati.

However, Yomso urged fellow beings of the Adi community not to give the situation a communal colour.
Burang termed the untimely demise of late Katem Dai a huge loss and said that alleged accused should be punished at any cost.

Most mainlanders would pronounce the name Míbang as Meebang or Mibang...Émul would be pronounced as Eemul or Imul...Ména would be called Mina or Meena...Ngo would be pronounced as No...Donyi would be pronounced as Doni....Nyodu would be called Nodu...Nyago as Nago.
Likewise most natives cannot pronounce certain syllables and pronunciations. Think would be called Tink...Four would be called Por...Five would be called Pipe...Six would be called Sik...!! Hindi words like Accha would be called Assa...Bhindi would be called Bindi...Chhuri would be called Suri etc. There is difficulty in pronouncing words/syllables with requirement to roll the tongue with the upper mouth.
Then there is this Assamese connection with older names and words. a...is pronounced like an o....Arati or Aarti is Aroti...Anima is Onima...Bharati is Bharoti...etc. Roti is called Ruti...
There are typically words prevalent in North East due to usage....Bitter Gourd is called Kerala instead of Karela...Kerala is a State of India!!...Brinjal or Baygan is called Baygun...In entire East India, Samosa is called Singhara...Mungphali (Ground nuts) is called Badam...!
When the Hindi teacher taught “Ka Kha Ga Gha Nga....”...the native student repeated “Ka Ka Ga Ga Nga...”....the teacher scolded the student...however the issue was the student could not pronounce kha and gha.
With many students studying outside the region and with wide proliferation of Hindi movies and Hindi TV channels, pronunciation is improving. Occasionally one can hear native comperes/emcees and announcers using correct pronunciations of both English and Hindi languages. Otherwise listening to speeches in Hindi by our leaders are a hilarious experience.
With improvements in pronunciation, shopkeepers will not give you Bindi when you ask for Bhindi...and we will not be eating Kerala and Baygun.
Youths urged to think beyond the horizon of government jobs
DOIMUKH, Feb 24: Minister of Power, Textile and Handicraft and Industries, Tamiyo Taga appealed to the youths to think beyond the horizon of government jobs which are very limited and start exploring opportunities in other fields.
He was addressing the valedictory function of Arunachal Pradesh Seva Sangh (APSS) conducted Skill Development Programme on Tailoring and Embroidery and Computer Hardware at Doimukh on Friday last, which was sponsored by SJVN Hydro Electric Project.
The Minister said that the government is providing logistic support in the form of subsidies and other required assistance to unemployed youths through various schemes to encourage them to set up their own industries and other economic activities to become self reliant.
While encouraging the youths to opt for cottage industries, Taga further said that textile and handicrafts are only viable cottage industries with very limited market within the state, but it can also be developed further with application of creativity and variety in production so that it can the fulfill need of the local market and outside as well.
DC, Tai Kaye also stressed that mass awareness and wide publicity must be done regarding such skill development programme so that many unemployed youths can avail the opportunity. Doimukh SDO, Ibom Tao also spoke on the occasion.

He asked the successful trainees to create awareness on various livelihood schemes available under the department of skill development to help the educated youth acquire skill in different trades that would help them in securing jobs both under government and also private establishments.
IPR Deputy Director, Denhang Bosai said that the skilled and trained youth are assets to the society and the nation, adding that in the absence of any industry worth its name, the educated youth of the state were totally dependent on government jobs which are hard to come by.
He appealed to the youth to take up skill development training that would help them stand on their own feet. He also appreciated the Skill Development Department and the GPTI for making an honest effort to equip the educated youth through skill development training.
Chairperson of GPTI, Topu Basar Ete also lauded the Skill Development Department for empowering the youth through meaningful skill development trainings, and assured to impart quality training to the youth in order to make them worthy of jobs for their livelihood.

WASE urges DC to ban gambling

PASIGHAT, Feb 25: Terming playing carom in the form of gambling and hosting of DJ night parties illegal, the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) here have submitted a petition to the Deputy Commissioner of East Siang district recently seeking ban on these two activities.
WASE President, Omem Ering, who met DC, Tamiyo Tatak recently, strongly pleaded to the district administration to put a complete ban on carom gambling as well as DJ night parties.
Reasoning the ban on carom board gambling, the WASE said that youths and government employees are addicted to it. Government employees are also seen gambling and evading duties. The trend has spread to every village of the district which has become a menace today, it added.
In the case of DJ night parties, the WASE apprised the DC that excessive use and sales of IMFLs, prostitution and drug peddling also allegedly prevailed in these night parties.
Omem Ering and Joya Tasung Moyong also went on to say that gambling in any form is illegal and many affected mothers and parents have approached WASE to check carom gambling and DJ night parties.
Mirbuk village has voluntarily banned carom gambling by issuing an order by the village elders as the menace had started to adversely affect the lives of youths.
Meanwhile, the Pasighat DC has taken the suggestions and petition of the WASE seriously and has assured to initiate proper action.
Ride for Nyokum
ITANAGAR, Feb 25: With the festive mood of Nyokum gripping the citizens here in the state Capital, the members of Royal Arunachal Riders (RAR) too dipped into the festive fervour and took out a rally under the theme 'Ride for Nyokum,' on Saturday.

Governor, CM convey Nyokum Yullo greetings

Refrain from hunting: Jambey Tashi
TAWANG, Feb 25: Lumla MLA Jambey Tashi has cautioned everyone to refrain from indulging in hunting activities.
Taking strict note of the endangered species of red panda, musk deer and black necked crane in the area, Tashi, who is also RWD Parliamentary Secretary, said that everyone must restrain from hunting wild life.
He was speaking at a daylong event on Environment & Forest Awareness and Wildlife Sensitization, organized by the Department of Environment and Forest, Tawang at Zomkhang Hall on Saturday.
Expressing happiness and enthusiasm over the soon to be built Rhododendron Park in Tawang, he opined that it would not only add to the scenic beauty but also conserve various species that are on the verge of extinction.
With regard to the incidences of forest fire in the district, he asked the leaders to educate villagers about the damages caused to the environment.
Advocating for tree plantation by one and all, he also suggested for proper nurture and care of the planted saplings and assured to extend his cooperation to the department.
CCF, Western Arunachal Circle, R K Singh also dealt on the importance of forest and wildlife and the need for its conservation. Taking instances of manmade disasters, Singh urged all to start taking precautions to mitigate the damages caused to the environment.
He emphasised that development is needed but not at the cost of environment.
Tawang DFO Abdul Qayum also gave an overview of the current departmental works, including status of Green India Mission, restoration of wetlands, Nature Interpretation Park and modern nursery.

Kheram ADO, Nang N Mannow explained in detail about the different activities of ATMA and their collaborative work with KVK, while SMS (Animal Science) Dr B K D Borah imparted training on poultry farming and its management.
SMS (Horticulture), Ph Chandramoni Singh also imparted training on rabi crop cultivation and gave demonstration on seed treatment of ginger, which would benefit the farmers in the coming season.
Fungicide, insecticide and plant hormones were also distributed to the farmers on the occasion.
Condolence
ITANAGAR, Feb 25: Radhe Kojing, who worked as lab assistant in Government Higher Secondary School, Naharlagun, passed away on February 23 last at Tomo Riba State Hospital.
A native of Tajang village in Lower Subansiri district, late Radhe Kojing is survived by his wife and two sons.
A condolence meeting was held at the school by observing two minutes silence on Saturday.
